Responsibilities:
Monitor Facility Quality Measures and analyze clinical data metrics to identify areas for improvement
Ensure all MDS assessments are completed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with state and federal regulations.
Opens MDS assessments, fills in resident's name, assessment reference date, and reason for the assessment.
Reviews all validation reports from the State Department of Health and corrects errors as necessary.
Transmits MDS data to State DOH after making certain assessments are edited and locked.
Provides billing department with information regarding resource utilization groups for Medicare patients.
Educates staff regarding MDS, Quality Indicators and Prospective Payment System. Assures regulatory compliance with MDS assessments.
Assures MDS Encoders are following policy and procedure and entering data timely and accurately.
Writes or revises policies and procedures for department.
Provides in-service training regarding the MDS to Nurse Managers, RNs, LPNs, and other clinical staff (social service, recreation therapy, and dietitians).
Report monthly progress to DON and supervise and oversee MDS process in doing care plan compliance
Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness.
All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
Other Duties:
Maintains connection with the DOH's MDS automation coordinator.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
Position Qualifications:
- Five years or more as an MDS Coordinator.
- Meets regulatory requirements for MDS Prospective Payment System.
- Deep understanding of PDPM reimbursement model and CMS guidelines
- Computer literate.
- Good written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
- Prior management or supervisory experienced preferred
Education:
- BSN Required, Master's degree preferred.
- MDS and PPS training required.
- RAC - CT is highly preferred
- Registered Nurse in State of New Jersey
Job Setting/Physical Demands:
Long Term Care department and related areas; contact with patients, visitors, staff.
Frequent prolonged standing/sitting/walking.
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range:
$110,000 to $120,000 annually
